Katherine's Story
Life
I grew up in Stratford and attended WCSC in Danbury for my teaching degree. I was hired by Stratford shortly after graduation from college and have taught in Stratford Elementary Schools for 26 years. I taught sixth grade for 21 years and most recently have switched to grade 4 at Nichols School after reaching hormone burnout from 11-12 year olds.
I was married in 1981 to a St. Joe's graduate (and continue to be married). We have two girls age 15 and 11 (as of 2003). I received both my Masters' Degree and my Sixth Year Degree from SCSU.
Since moving to Shelton in 1996, I have become actively involved in PTA, serving as President of the PTA at the Elementary School where I have encountered people I went to both High School and college with. I am also in...Expand for more
volved in the PTA at the High School and in the city wide PTA Council. I am a Eucharisitic Minister at my church, Assumption of Ansonia (we lived there for 15 years before transplanting to Shelton). I look forward to our 30th high school reunion and maintain contact with many college friends as well......Anyone for a picnic in Shelton???
Workplace
I was hired by the Stratford Board of Education right out of college after two months of substitute teaching. I taught grades 2, 4, 3, 4 at Eli Whitney School and the summer I was married moved to Center School where I taught for 13 years in grade 6. I have now been teaching at Nichols School for 8 years and just this year (2002-2003) have switched to grade 4 after 21 years of hormonal sixth graders!!! I love what I do!!!
